– Microsoft Word –
Open, Save, Edit & Share on iOS Device
Open Microsoft Word Document on iOS Device –
- Tap on Mail
- Tap on desired Email with Microsoft Word Document
- Tap on the Microsoft Word Document (Can also tap & hold on document)
- In the top right hand corner of the screen tap Open in Word (Or the square with an arrow)
- Tap on Word
Once the document has been opened into Microsoft Word you can now Save the Document –
2 options to Save a Copy –
- Click Save a Copy if displayed in Banner

- Tap the 3 … in the top right hand corner
- Tap Save a Copy
- Click on Files App
You can choose to save it to your iCloud Drive or On My iPad – If you are currently using iCloud you will have the benefit of the document being backed up.
- Tap on the chosen location
- Tap on the Folder with the + sign
- Name the folder
- Tap Done
- Then Tap Move
You have successfully saved the document on your iPad
To Verify Auto Save is enabled – Click on the 3 … It will showcase Auto Save
Once the document has been saved you are now capable of Editing the Document –
How to Share a Microsoft Word Document on iOS Device –
Option 1 – If you are currently in the Microsoft Word Document
- Tap on the 3 … in the top right hand corner
- Click Send a Copy
- Select Send with Another App
- Select Mail
- Type in Recipient
- Tap Send
Option 2 – If you want to send a document that is not currently opened in Microsoft Word
- Locate the Files Application on your iOS Device
- Locate the Document (you can also utilize the search bar at the top of the page)
- Tap & Hold on Document
- Select Share
- Select Mail
- Type in Recipient
- Tap Send
Option 3 – Quick Option
- Tap on Mail Icon
- Type Recipient
- Below subject field in the blank space Tap & Hold & let go
- Select Add Document
- Locate Document via Search Bar or Scrolling
- Tap on Document to insert
- Tap Send
